Paddle Discover Award
For beginners over a 5 week period in Kayak. If you're new to paddling, or just attended a couple of taster sessions then this is where you start. Once you have your Discover award under your belt you can move on to Explore course next year. Whilst Paddle discover is a beginner course you must be ready to work hard and pay close attention to the coaches. As a new paddler you'll need to gain experience and must be prepared for the challenge. Paddle sports are classed as an adventurous activity and not without risk so you must be prepared to listen carefully to coach's instructions. Don't be surprised when they shout out your name if they spot you heading for the rapids! Paddle Discover is £50 for 5 weeks tuition and equipment. We run two courses in the year:
Courses run on Tuesday evening, be there for 6pm, on the water by 6.30 and usually off at 8pm. Paddle Explore Award Done the Discover course? Next you can develop your skills in kayak, paddle more efficiently, go on journeys, learn to rescue yourself and others in a kayak and canoe. This course runs all summer term inclusive of school holidays (we don't expect you to make every evening, holidays are allowed) so we also have time to try out canoeing and maybe SUPs. We finish with a full day expedition on a weekend. Paddle Explore is £90 for approximately 22 weeks tuition and equipment as for Paddle Discover plus a spraydeck for the course. £70 will be charged for the 22 weeks if you have ALL your own equipment. Log books which are required at this standard can be down loaded off the Internet - this will be explained on the first evening.
